Bread and peace. Those are the basics (is peace a basic?) that the strikers are demanding.
I’ve just watched the TV news and there are huge crowds demonstrating in Plaza Colón and around the fuente de Neptuno. But this photo was taken just north of Neptune about five hours ago, when the mass of manifestación was elsewhere. The tall building just visible in the far distance (click the image for a closer view) is up by Colón.

No recuerdo de quién es la frase, pero en los últimos tiempos no se me va de la cabeza. Parece resumirlo todo. Dice algo así como:
“Tristes tiempos estos en los que hay que luchar por lo que es evidente”

Me consta que nos hemos confundido durante mucho tiempo de cuáles son las cosas básicas. Así que de repente nos encontramos con muchas cosas y descubrimos que no son las necesarias. O sea, lo que es evidente dejó de serlo durante un tiempo. A nadie le gusta despertarse, pero es esencial que lo hagamos.
