bylaws for inlaws

They say that Christmas is one of the most stressful times of year. That’s probably particularly true when it involves getting together groups of adults who seldom see each other and who all have their own set ways and habits.

Fortunately, my own family found the perfect place to go for a walk together on Boxing Day.

In the park in Leamington, we read this notice laying out the bylaws:

Focusing on that last column, specifically on the last point:

Unless authorised to do so by the council, a person MUST NOT

We may have spent much of our time together – much of our lives, perhaps! – obstructing, disturbing and annoying each other, but, for the time we were in the park on Boxing Day, we observed the bylaws and behaved ourselves.

MInd you, if we plan to repeat the whole performance next year, I may apply to Leamington Council for a special “licence to annoy”.
