I’ve been interested in relativity for a long time – or at least it seems that way! – ever since the 1970s when Dr Walker drew a stickman following a stickwoman and flashing a torch at her on the blackboard in a maths lecture at Nottingham University. I’m pretty sure the theory was that if they were both travelling at the speed of light the woman would never be aware of her pursuer. Or something like that.

The picture looks like something Vincent van Gogh might have made less realistic by painting it. It also looks like a typical monster from Doctor Who in the 1960s, just before the little man climbed in and put his lid on. (Part Kroton, part Mechanoid, part War Machine.)

If I were you, I’d catch up with recent Big Finish stories first, especially the wonderful Klein Trilogy.
Most Doctor Who fans think Vincent and the Doctor is a great episode, but I think it’s a tediously unimaginative rehashing of obsolescent ideas about madness, creativity and the relationship between them. I suppose you wouldn’t get even that in Merlin or Primeval [sic], so DW is probably still the best SF/fantasy show on TV.
