As I understand it (confirmed from doing some reading on the Wildflowers-and-weeds website) lots of flowers such as thistles and dandelions are not really single flowers, but composite flower heads made up of many tiny individual florets.

If I can’t even manage to organise half-a-dozen friends to all do something together as a group, what I want to know is how these tiny florets manage to communicate and coordinate things so that suddenly, on the same day, they have all become seeds.
