There are lots of old buildings around here, and many newer ones that pretend to be old or use details from older buildings.
Many of the architectural features are bricked up and I wonder what is behind them.
A tenuous connection makes me think of the blindfolded figure of Hope in the painting by G F Watts.
And then this particular architectural feature got me thinking:
I watched at the window for you,
night after day after night.
Now, instead of glass there are
sundials. The nightingale’s song
casts long shadows as clouds
and years tumble past.
